If you had to choose one place in the whole world to be your favourite where would you choose?
Well, this was a question I was asked a few weeks ago and one I’ve taken seriously – you know, zombie apocalypse and I have to go somewhere I feel safe and happy kind of place? Well, I decided to pick somewhere that holds not only a million memories, but somewhere I grew from a little girl into the woman I am today and somewhere I know I could easily hide from zombies. So I choose: Avebury.
Avebury is a Neolithic henge containing three stone circles, around the village named Avebury in Wiltshire, southwest of England. Avebury is one of the best known prehistoric sites in Britain, containing the largest megalithic stone circle in the world and by default the coolest and in my opinion 8th wonder of the world.
Now, I’m sure most of you grew up in villages, towns or in cities, maybe even by the coast? But for me, I grew up surrounded by trees, guard dogs, sheep and in literally a Neolithic stone circle, with the largest man made pyramid in Europe outside my window: Avebury.
So after hearing this, I’m sure it came as no surprise to you that when I was approached by a British magazine and asked if I’d be interested in talking to them about my favourite place… I picked easily, Avebury.
Just picture it and ask how the people who made Avebury lugged these enormous sarson stones miles (some speculate hundreds of miles) across the country to build avenues and circles with stones that shine light at certain times and some that block it, and we are still not even sure why…
